Dr Greg Bryant

Sentient Veterinary Member

Dr Greg Bryant graduated from the University of Sydney’s faculty of Veterinary Science in 1982. After graduation he worked at various practices, including Adamstown, Newcastle (mainly small animals and horses) and Marshall Road Bankstown, where he first experienced working with greyhound trainers.

Greg then travelled to the UK where he obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and practised in Birmingham and London, mainly working with small animals. After returning to Australia he ran Bryants Orchids for over 10 years- a family nursery business growing and exporting orchid flowers and plants, before finally selling the nursery site for development. Various locums followed, including at Baulkham Hills, where the practice owner was involved in greyhound racing and also owned greyhounds.

In 2005, Greg commenced teaching animal science and veterinary nursing at Ultimo TAFE, and obtained a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

In 2012, upon formation of the University of Sydney’s Veterinary Science Alumni Association, Greg joined the Executive Committee, assisting in developing mentoring programs for students and graduates.

After leaving TAFE NSW, he started working as an on-track veterinarian for Greyhound Racing NSW in 2014. He resigned in disgust from GRNSW in August 2015.

In December 2015, Greg commenced work with the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources as a Veterinary Officer in Animal Biosecurity.
