Sentient challenges the ethics of animal racing
March 27, 2016
On March 21st, Sentient was represented at the 2016 Dr Robert Dixon Animal Welfare Memorial Symposium at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Veterinary Science. The panel discussion addressed the question: 'How can we ensure the ethical treatment of animals used in racing?'. President Dr Rosemary Elliott advocated that we cannot ensure this, due to ongoing industry self regulation, standard animal management practices with poor welfare outcomes and the lethal combination of gambling and animal use. The video of the symposium is attached here.
